Illusion of Clarity was formed when the remains of metal band Hellstream (guitarists Anders Hållberg and Christian Skärby, along with drummer Henrik Söderlund (ex. Cygnus)), after parting ways with bass player Jim Kekonius (now with Subcyde) and singer Daniel Hellström, decided to stick together and start looking for new musicians who shared their vision to create interresting and multi fasetted music without losing the sheer power of metal.
Just before christmas 2003 they found what they were looking for in singer Patrik Forsberg (ex. Leprechaun, Twilight Throne) and bass player Emil Holmgren (ex. Arcane, Yore, Resurrect), both of whom are talented multi instrumentalists. It was soon clear that they too shared those same ideas and visions of how they wanted their music to sound like. All members have different musical backgrounds, and when they let their influences fuse together, music with a wide spectrum emerges.
While staying true to the metal genre, the bands influences range from classic hard rock and progressive to progressive metal with intricate, neo-classical instrumental sections and the aggressive riffing of Bay Area thrash. The music is defined by a prominent band feel, but not without leaving space for individual brilliance instrumentally.
The band just finished the recording of their latest demo Ambivalent Existence, thus taking a giant step in the direction hinted by the title track of their last demo The Three Fiends. The music has become more progressive and intricate, but is meant for everyone who likes metal with a driven beat and strong melodies.
